Air guitars out please!

What could we have picked as the F for our continuing series of the Alphabetti Spaghetti of SF? Could it be Fanthorpe (Lionel), no we’ve got enough eccentric clergy around to last us a lifetime! Could it be Farmer (Philip Jose), truth be told I’m not in a riverboat mood, it could have been Ford (Prefect) in an attempt to be relevant to this summers blockbuster releases. But instead … wait for it … with the screeching of Brian May air guitar we have FLASH (aa-aah)) Saviour of the Universe. From the Buster Crabbe serials of yesteryear to the fantastically over the top (Brian Blessed in tight lycra! What were they thinking!) 1980’s version I’m hard pressed to think of a more evocative icon in all of SF(Robbie perhaps?). Whatever the case, with the recent BBC adaptation of Doctor Who (see previous blogs), and their announcement that a fantasy orientated version of Robin Hood is in the works maybe we can convince them to bring old Flash out of retirement for a last battle against Ming the Merciless.

How do we rate the new adaptation of the SF clasic WAR of the Worlds be honest.

    has spielberg lost his touch?
