Can you name the famous song that these are the opening verses to ?

This day and age we’re living in
    Gives cause for apprehension
    With speed and new invention
    And things like fourth dimension.

Yet we get a trifle weary
    With Mr. Einstein’s theory.
So we must get down to earth at times
    Relax relieve the tension

And no matter what the progress
Or what may yet be proved
The simple facts of life are such
    They cannot be removed

This webcast is fascinating…. I’ll post the answer later 🙂

    You must remember this
A kiss is still a kiss,
A sigh is just a sigh
    The fundamental things apply
    As time goes by . . .

    Celebrated German author, Thomas Mann lived just down the road from Einstein when they were both exciles in the USA during WWII;

    This from BBC Radio 4
“In 1938, author Thomas Mann was forced to flee the Nazis and seek refuge in America. John Jungclaussen retraces Mann’s physical and mental steps 50 years after the author’s death.”

I had not realised the extent and celebrity of the exciles community in this period. It would be interesting to trace the actions and interactions of this group of scientists, artists and intelectuals and guage the lasting effects.
