K9 Guards Portal to Hoddinott Hall

written by Peter Grehan

The new home of the BBC’s National Orchestra of Wales is the recently opened Hoddinott Hall. The Hall is part of the Wales Millennium Arts centre, and has a small foyer entrance within which are a number of display cases. One of these cases contains the ‘older’ K9) from School Reunion) amongst other Doctor Who items, including the prosthetic mask of the Bannakaffalatta from Voyage of The Damned.) The reason for these items being displayed is, of course, that the BBC National Orchestra of Wales plays the theme tune for the revived series of Doctor Who.

The bad news is that, at the moment, you have to have a ticket to a performance in the Hoddinott Hall in order to see these. There is no other public access to the Hall. There is hope that the Hall may be included in the, already excellent, public tours of the WMC at some point in the future. That said, it could hardly be considered a hardship to listen to a world class orchestra in such a fine venue.
